Coast are working closely with the Powerhouse Museum to develop Aboriginal overview histories of their four museum sites at Ultimo, Parramatta, Castle Hill and Sydney Observatory. The histories are being collaboratively researched with Aboriginal community members culturally connected to each of the sites. The aim is to research carefully and deeply to uncover Aboriginal stories of each site and its surrounds from the earliest times through to the present day, to correct misinformation and to address myths. The reports and accompanying historical source catalogues will help Powerhouse staff understand the context of each site, and can be used as the basis for further work to develop historical interpretation or exhibitions. So far our report for Castle Hill has been completed and Sydney Observatory is currently being researched.

Our office is located on the lands of the Gadigal in the inner Sydney suburb of Alexandria, who have sung and spoken this land for countless generations. We acknowledge the Gadigal and honour this tradition by working respectfully with Aboriginal people to share their histories.

Aboriginal people should be aware that this website may contain images or names of people who have died.
