Working with Aboriginal communities is one of the great aspects of working in this sphere, but we acknowledge current problems and historical legacies of non-Aboriginal ‘experts’ working with the culture and histories of others. Wherever we can, we seek to collaborate with Aboriginal people to research and share stories of Country and connection, and to leave a legacy of building research capacity.
We have a long-standing collaboration with Dharawal researchers from the La Perouse based Gujaga Foundation to develop content for family and community history projects. This has involved researching place histories for Connecting with Country projects, developing online and exhibition content, and writing research papers.
